Living in Arizona in a rural area Speedconnect (priorly Commspeed) was my only choice for internet until recently. The service was always mediocre but the tech support was good until Speedconnect bought out Commspeed.

These are my complaints

1. Speedconnect never ever announced changes or additional charges to their service... Additional charges would just magically appear on the bill. When my bill went up about $10 a year ago, I found out I was paying $20 more for my VoIP phone than what was advertised on their webpage. They gave me a song and dance about how the $10 per month was a promotion for new customers purchasing a bigger package, though there was absolutely nothing on the web site stating this. I had to threaten to disconnect my phone in order for them to lower my charges.

2. Customer support changed to limited hours 8am-5pm and then 8am-7pm EST... I live in AZ so for me no customer support after 3pm or 4pm depending on daylight savings time.

3. My service during the month of July and August deteriorated to about 1 hour of actual internet time daily. Technical support claimed Sprint was interfering with the shared tower signal and there was nothing they could do to fix it.

4. I called to cancel my service on August 13 after arranging for a new provider. I spoke with the billing department regarding my basically non existent service for most of July and August. She said she would contact the manager to see if a refund could be processed.

5. I received a bill in the mail for $15 from Speedconnect with no description of the charges. I called and found out that I was being billed for going over my data usage in July. I don't have Netflix or any other streaming service.... my service is so lousy buffering is a big problem even with Youtube. I don't play online games... I use FB, Ebay and Etsy. They said I used over 10GB of data for the month of July when half of that month my service was down more than up. They will not reverse charges due to the lack of service for August. My new internet provider started service August 1. All of the service charges they want me to pay are completely bogus.

There are more issues with this company that I noted but these are the major complaints. They are deceitful and extremely mismanaged and are scraping rock bottom with customer support.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Monetary Loss: $82.

Preferred solution: Full refund.
